Murphy Elementary School District #21 will submit a new 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) application for the Cycle 15 Fiscal Year 2020 for W.R. Sullivan and Arthur M. Hamilton Schools. If approved the grant would be for a period of 5 years with a projected budget of $120,000 for Year 1, 2, & 3. The purpose of the grant is to (1) provide opportunities for academic enrichment, including providing tutorial services to help students, particularly students who attend low-performing schools, to meet the challenging State academic standards; (2) Offer youth development activities by providing enrichment opportunities (technology education, science, service learning, character education, etc. and to (3) offer families of students served by the program opportunities for active and meaningful engagement in their children's' education, including opportunities for literacy and related education development.

Ms. Mitchell’s 5th grade class had an exciting guest speaker! Former major league baseball player Junior Spivey! He spoke with the students about dedication everything you are passionate about. No matter where you come from, your education is important and with it you can achieve all your dreams!
Such a great morning for the Sullivan students! The Arizona Science Center had a fun way of showing students the anatomy of a shark! The students were able to dissect the sharks and they talked about what the functions of the different organs in the shark!
On Friday 2/15/2019 we had our Award Assembly for students 5th-8th grade at Kuban Elementary! The students enjoyed celebrating each other and our success as a school! Students who received awards were allowed to participate in fun activities such as, moving candy hearts from one bowl to another using the spoon in their mouth, blowing up a balloon and racing to be the first to knock off all their cups, also participated in a balloon race using their heads to tap the balloon down the row to their waiting partner who then did it back to the start line. All the students were very excited with the award ceremony and activities! Congratulations to all the students!
Happy New Year! Ms. Ortega's class celebrated the Chinese New Year by eating Chinese food using chopsticks. It looks like they enjoyed the experience.

Our textbook committee has been very busy the last few months narrowing down the choices of publishers for both ELA (K-8) and Math (K-8) for a possible textbook adoption for the 2019-2020 school year. The Governing Board/Receiver will display the textbooks that are considered for adoption in the Boardroom 60 days prior to the finalized adoption. We currently have 2 ELA and 2 Math programs ready for you to review and to provide input, if you'd like.
