The Maintenance, Operations & Transportation Department at Murphy Elementary School District plays a vital role in creating safe, clean, and efficient learning environments. From maintaining our facilities to transporting students safely each day, this team works behind the scenes to support students, staff, and families.

Who Is Eligible for Transportation?

Arizona state law allows local school governing boards to offer student transportation services. In accordance with Murphy Elementary School District policy, bus transportation is available for eligible students based on the distance between their home and school:

  • Kindergarten: More than ½ mile from school

  • Grades 1–6: More than 1 mile from school

  • Grades 7–8: More than 1½ miles from school

Eligibility is determined by the student’s primary residence.

What We Do

Maintenance & Facilities

Our maintenance team ensures that all district buildings and grounds are safe, functional, and well-maintained. Responsibilities include:

  • Building repairs and preventative maintenance

  • Classroom and facility upkeep

  • Grounds and outdoor area maintenance

  • Safety inspections and compliance

Our goal is to create spaces where students and staff can focus on learning without interruption.

Operations

The operations team supports the daily functioning of the district by coordinating services that keep schools running smoothly, including:

  • Facility operations and scheduling

  • Campus safety support

  • Coordination with district departments

  • Support for special events and activities

Transportation Services

Student safety is our top priority. Our transportation team provides reliable and safe transportation services for eligible students.

Services include:

  • Daily student transportation

  • Route planning and scheduling

  • Vehicle maintenance and inspections

  • Driver training and safety compliance
