K-8 Literacy Lessons These lesson plans are samples of the types of activities library media specialists can do with classes in the library in order to encourage students to read and reinforce literacy skills learned in the classroom. Since all library media centers within the Murphy School District are equipped with Smartboards, many of the lessons incorporate this technology. Murphy School District subscribes to Safari Montage, and some lessons include a video from this company. Also, you will notice that most lessons include worksheets. This is to not only give students independent practice, but also allow time for students to check out books. Several lessons compliment the district adopted Language Arts curriculum. This includes SRA/McGraw-Hill's Open Court for Kindergarten through 5th grade, and McDougal Littell's The Language of Literature textbooks. Click on the title below to view the lesson.
