Recommended Grade Level(s): 4-6 (Can be adjusted for older grades)
Goal(s): Students will be able to locate information in an encyclopedia
Materials: Books, encyclopedia worksheet click to get the encyclopedia worksheet.
Introduction to the Topic: Ask the students to give you topics of interest. Look up the topics in a section of the encyclopedia and show them. Then explain that they too can find out about topics using the encyclopedias.
Procedures:
Give each table a section of the encyclopedia and a topic that can be found in that section.
Have students complete the encyclopedia worksheet.
Students will elect one person from their table to be the presenter. This person will go to the other tables and tell them what they learned.
After the student has presented, have the other students at the table tell the presenter what they learned from their own encyclopedia activity.
Assessment Options:
Shout outs about what they learned.
Students write something they learned on the Smartboard.
